You will see a lot of corporate dinners and lunches taking place here . The ambience and food is very nice

A Mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, sparkling water and mint. The original Cuban recipe uses spearmint or “Yerba buena”, a much lighter mint variety very popular in the island. Its combination of sweetness, refreshing citrus and mint flavors are intended to complement the potent kick of the rum, and have made this clear highball a popular summer drink.I would say the one here was too sweet for my taste so had to request to lower the sugar in the drink.

This was the old Post office that has now become a premium Hotel in SIngapore opposite the famous Merlion .

The Fullerton Building was named after Robert Fullerton, the first Governor of the Straits Settlements (1826-1829).Commissioned in 1919 as part of the British colony’s centennial celebrations, the building was designed as an office building by Major P.H. Keys of Keys & Dowdeswell, a Shanghai firm of architects, which won the project through an architectural design competition.

The Fullerton Building was opened on 27 June 1928 by the Governor, Sir Hugh Clifford, who suggested the building be named after Robert Fullerton. The building had five founding tenants: the General Post Office, The Exchange, Singapore Club (now Singapore Town Club), the Marine Department, and the Import and Export Department (later the Ministry of Trade and Industry). It also housed the Chamber of Commerce, and various government departments dealing with agriculture, fisheries and forestry. The General Post Office (GPO) was the anchor tenant, which only moved in a fortnight after the Fullerton Building’s official opening.

In 1997, Sino Land (Hong Kong) Company Ltd, a sister company of Far East Organization, acquired the Fullerton Building from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). It spent close to another S$300 million converting Fullerton Building into a hotel and building the two-storey commercial complex One Fullerton opposite Fullerton Road. Renovation works on the Fullerton Building were completed on 8 December 2000. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore was officially opened by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on 1 January 2001

This is the picture of the new integrated resort thats under construction called the Marina Bay Sands. The Marina Bay Sands is billed as a centrepiece of the Marina Bay landscape when completed in 2009. Las Vegas Sands had committed the highest development investment of S$3.85 billion. With the land price and associated capital cost, its total investment will exceed S$5 billion.[6] It would also be one of the most expensive casinos in the world. The design, by Moshe Safdie consists of three large shells containing conference halls and other business venues, three large hotel towers linked on their top floors by a sweeping sky garden, and a centerpiece museum which juts out onto the bay. This will have 55 stories and 2500 luxury rooms with a boat shaped sky view. Also has a unique museum and luxury shopping and state of the art gaming facilities. I even heard the local cabbie say it will cost S$ 100 to just enter the place as deterrent by the government to discourage local people to gamble here . The one at Sentosa has already opened during the Chinese new year will be interesting to see how it looks when done. They have a site already for it www.marinabaysands.com/en/index.html

During a parliament session on 18 April 2005, Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, announced the cabinet’s decision to develop two casinos and associated hotels and malls in Marina South and Sentosa.[1]
The government claims the aim of the project is to boost Singapore’s tourism industry which has been facing intense competition from other destinations around the region, particularly from nearby Bangkok and Hong Kong, which has since also considered legalization of casinos in the wake of initiatives in Singapore. Even closer to home, Malaysia has long had a legal casino cum theme park on Genting Highlands, which proved popular with Singaporean tourists. The IRs in Singapore are expected to create about 35,000 jobs directly and indirectly. In addition to the casinos, the IRs will have other amenities including hotels, restaurants, shopping and convention centers, theaters, museums and theme parks.
